Honest business consulting for companies that want the real picture

Most owners already know something is off. Revenue looks fine, but cash is tight. The team grew, yet output stayed flat. We sit with you, find the leak, and plug it. That is the whole job.

What we actually do

Six areas where we have deep, repeatable expertise. If your problem falls outside these, we will say so on the first call.

Financial diagnostics

We pull apart your P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow statement line by line. Within two weeks you get a written report showing exactly where money disappears and what to do about each item.

Organisational restructuring

Roles overlap, decisions stall, and accountability is vague. We redesign reporting lines, write clear role briefs, and stay for 90 days to make sure the new structure sticks.

Risk and compliance reviews

Regulations shift, and what passed last year can trigger fines this year. We audit your processes against current UK and sector-specific rules, then hand you a prioritised fix list.

Growth strategy

Should you open a second location, launch online, or acquire a competitor? We model each scenario with real numbers so you can compare them side by side before committing capital.

Exit and succession planning

Selling a business or passing it to the next generation takes two to three years of preparation to get a fair price. We start with a valuation, identify value gaps, and build a roadmap to close them before you go to market.

Operational efficiency

We map your workflows from order to delivery, time each step, and eliminate the ones that add cost without adding value. Typical engagements free up 12 to 20 percent of staff time within six months.

What changed for these companies

Short snapshots from recent engagements. Names used with permission.

A 38-person engineering firm in Harrogate was losing £9k a month on a product line nobody had reviewed since 2019. We identified the line, renegotiated the supply contract, and turned it from a loss to a £4k monthly contributor within one quarter.
Engagement for Pennine Precision Ltd, 2024
The founder of a Leeds e-commerce brand wanted to sell within 18 months. Adjusted EBITDA was £220k. After restructuring costs and cleaning up stock accounting, we presented the business at £310k EBITDA. It sold for 4.1× that figure.
Engagement for a consumer goods brand, 2023
A care-home operator with four sites had no central financial reporting. Each manager ran their own spreadsheet. We built a single reporting pack, trained the team, and cut month-end close from 22 days to 7.

How an engagement runs

Four stages, usually eight to twelve weeks end to end. Shorter if the scope is tight, longer for exit planning.

1

Scoping call

45 minutes on the phone or in person. You tell us what hurts; we tell you whether we can help and what it will cost. No charge for this.

2

Deep-dive week

We spend three to five days inside your business: reading accounts, interviewing key staff, observing operations. You get a written brief at the end.

3

Recommendations

A short document, not a 60-slide deck. Each recommendation has a cost, a timeline and an expected payoff. You choose which ones to act on.

4

Implementation support

We stay involved for 60 to 90 days while changes bed in. Weekly check-ins, ad-hoc calls, and a final review to confirm results.

Questions we hear often

If yours is not listed, call or email. We reply the same working day.

Most engagements are fixed-fee, agreed before any work starts. The scoping call is free. For ongoing advisory retainers we bill monthly, and either side can cancel with 30 days' notice.
Yes. About a third of our clients are elsewhere in England. The deep-dive week happens on site wherever you are; the rest of the engagement runs over video calls and shared documents.
Owner-managed businesses with annual turnover between £1m and £30m. Below that threshold, the cost of an engagement often exceeds the likely return. Above it, you probably need a larger firm with sector-specialist teams.
No. We work alongside your existing advisers. Your accountant handles compliance and tax; we focus on commercial decisions. Where legal input is needed, we coordinate with your solicitor directly.
Typically within two weeks of the scoping call. If we are at capacity, we will tell you upfront and give you a realistic start date rather than stringing you along.
